Jane Eats NYC

What’s the best part of minor league baseball games? ;)

I will always be loyal to dunkie’s, but their airport coffee is horrible!

Blue moon! I loves me a drink that comes with fruit!

Best mid-morning snack ever!!

…and that I’m a bit of an oenophile. This is a glass of purple moon Shiraz from trader joe’s. Happy happy hour, y’all!

It will quickly become apparent that I am a bit of a coffee fiend. I often have 1-2 cups in the morning and sometimes another one in the afternoon! This is actually a cup and a half, brewed with the k-cup machine in my office pantry: a cup of Green Mountain hazelnut and a half cup of GM dark magic extra bold. (if this cup could hold two full cups, believe you me, it would!) There’s a splash of whole milk in there as well (I don’t believe in skim!)

Yes, you can!

Yes, you can leave comments on my posts! It took some doing, but I figured out how to equip my tumblog with commenting capabilities.  The only thing is, you need to navigate through to the post you want to comment on by clicking on the title.  Then, you can leave your comment at the bottom.  If anyone knows how to make a comment link appear at the bottom of the post as viewed on my main page, please let me know!

Salad from my unbeatable work cafeteria. Not pictured: their killer new sesame dressing!

Nice to MEAT you!

Hello, Blogosphere!

I guess it’s only right that I start off by introducing myself.  I’m Jane.  How lovely to meet you! (We’ll get to my silly titular pun later).  I live in New York and I love to eat.  One of my very favorite things about this city is the endless selection of delicious, healthy, affordable food.  After spending what seems like years reading other people’s excellent food blogs - Kath’s, Jenna’s, Gena’s, Caitlin’s, Tina’s, Heather’s, and Meghann’s, to name only a few - I decided it was finally time to start my own! There don’t seem to be enough people in the food blogging world singing the (fully deserved) praises of my fair city (Gena is the major exception, though my blog will be quite different from hers, as you’ll see!).

So what’s with my atrocious spelling? The short answer: I love meat! Before your feathers get too ruffled, I would like to mention that I am very well versed in all of the environmental, economic, nutritional and social problems with conventionally farmed animals.  I have been an animal lover all my life and I would never want to inflict that kind of suffering on an innocent creature.  That’s why, whenever possible, I buy my meat, fish, eggs and dairy from reputable, humane, sustainable farming organizations.  I particularly love - love love love - the Union Square Greenmarket because they always have a truly wonderful selection - friendly people, reasonable prices, and top quality goods that I can feel good about supporting.

Have I rambled enough yet?

One more thing: I’m planning to keep this blog relatively text-light (this post the obvious exception), and will try to share mostly beautiful images of the wonderful bounty of my city.  Welcome aboard!

Jane

Desktop water! I love this one-liter bottle. It saves me so much time going back for refills. That much more time to spend at the gym!
